My exact same thoughts, I remember the mangaka mentiones that the story was planed up to the first concert (when I think it was the best part of Given) after that ot just felt.... IDK like it severely lacked something, MafuYama's chemistry got out of the window in favor of more Yuki angst and the friends romance (which was unnecessary in my opinion) I get Kaji and Haruki, they were there since the star but the story just branched too much and left the main couple aside.
This was mediocre as hell
Absolutely 0 chemistry between uenoyama and mafuyu after the first bit and they like barely interacted like lmao what? Not to mention they pecked like twice in the whole manga. Honestly couldn’t tell they liked each other unless they straight out said it.
And what??? Uenoyamas been the supporting guitarist for 10 years? the chapter before that mafuyu poured his heart out like “I WANT TO SING AND MAKE SONGS WITH YOU FOREVER!!!” I’m just a bit confused…r they just gonna act like that didn’t happen? why does this manga have so much praise? Ig it’s because of the anime adaption was good, but a music manga is always going to be limited lmao. It’s not even particularly angsty nor is it shedding light on gay issues in a great way nor is the romance that interesting. It would be perfectly fine if u just looked at the anime adapted portion of it but it kinda goes to shit after that..I guess people are starved for bls that wouldn’t put u on a watchlist which I get but this is booty
