I'm thinking that Ilay is struggling to keep his composure (Ilay acting different than normal, the deliberating over whether or not he should kill Tay) and he doesn't want Tay to see as he might take advantage of it and run away again
But I genuinely have no clue if this is it
i think that ilay doesn’t really want to kill tay, and he doesn’t want him to think he does so he reacted like that when tay overheard his convo. he came to terms w the fact that tay is different and someone special to him, he couldn’t get him out of his head or dreams for so long
So when Ilay is talking to his brother, he's sort of acting tough or putting on his act of violence. The reason we know he's acting is because when he realizes that Tay heard him, he has a reaction. He cares about what Tay thinks, even if he's in denial of his feelings. Because of he didn't care about Tay, he would not have had ANY reaction to seeing Tay behind the door. Even the brother is surprised to see Ilay have a reaction. Imagine a cold-blooded killer caring about a what seemingly "nobody" guy thought of him.
I saw some comments about ilay reaction if tay heard anything, but what does that reaction mean , I’m lowkey slow, I barely notice the small details .
