I've seen some tiktoks about this site and I'm realizing how much of its users are concerning.....

I find it weird how MINORS are reading stuff like Jinx and painter of the night. Not to mention how much they're romanizing them. I see tiktoks about teenage girls saying they want a man like (Insert seme from toxic bl) and all the comments will be agreeing?? It's making people think that having an abusive relationship is 'fun and sexy!!' when it's not. I've been in a extremely abusive and toxic relationship and it's NOT fun at all.

(I'm not saying I think all minors on this app should be kicked or something, do what you want it just be safe since some people are weird on here)

No, I totally agree! It took me YEARS to actually find mangas/manhwas/webtoons with healthy relationship representation and it shocks me that so many manhwas in the romance genre display super toxic relationships and just brush it off. There's never any development and it's extremely concerning how those stories are the ones that blow up but actually healthy relationships with good communication, good lgbtq+ rep, and good development are drowned out.

I also think it would be near impossible to stop minors from accessing this content (I also have no say since I was on this site when I was a minor), and the responsibility lies solely on the authors themselves. I've seen many messed up works where the author takes care to show that the behavior is unacceptable and I think that is a fine approach, but the reality is that the majority of mainstream/popular BL creators don't see the real-world effects of writing an extremely toxic love interest.

Parents exist. While I do think the content can be damaging to young (and adult lbr) minds, it’s not their responsibility to parent other people’s children. They make adult content that’s meant to be consumed by adults. They shouldn’t be made to censor themselves because parents aren’t monitoring the media their kids are viewing.

Ohh yeah actually, you're totally right about that. It's not my place to police what authors want to do, obviously, but I just don't like the romanticization of any toxic relationship in general even if it's meant only for adults. It's just my opinion though and I would never go out of my way to call authors out for anything.

    THIS !
I have been on this site for 6 years , The toxic BLs that I see people romanizing the amount of toxic BLs being written and overly hyped has always made my stomach turn. I can barely find something cute and wholesome which has made me take multiple breaks from reading BL in general. It is sad so many young ppl read stuff like this and think its "hot"... very concerning.

I get it, and I agreed with the other parts of your comment.

I think it’s more common to see younger people on sites with mature content because of the increase in the use of technology and social media. It’s really up to the parents or guardians to keep track of what their children are doing online. Younger people also don’t totally understand what may be wrong with a relationship like the one in Jinx because they have never been in a romantic relationship themselves, don’t have experience, and or because they are just too young and simply don’t understand. I’ve also read tons of yaoi, shounen ai, bl, hentai, straight romances, whatever and tons of them romanticize topics like rape, abuse, forced abortion, slavery, etc. This is mostly due to the fact that these topics are controversial and people find them interesting to read about (increasing views and revenue). Although, they are usually written about in a way that can be gross or uncomfortable for many. I have found a few that do write in a way that is more educational or even beautiful without romanizing controversial topics, but there are few within the many. You just have to look hard.
