i don't hate her but it baffles me how ignorant she is for a psych nurse. how can you not even know what a trauma is?

No because same- it's the way she's working for a psychiatrist but has zero clue about the entire subject

Tbh I think she's basically meant to be a device so that the manga can explain psychological concepts as naturally as it can. I think she's there basically to ask questions in the place of a less knowledgeable reader

I mean couldn't they have done that through the questions of the patient itself? Or through some narrator information box or maybe by introducing an intern or a nurse in training? Someone whose ignorance or lack of knowledge would've made sense?

if they used info boxes that wouldve been the manga equivalent of exposition dumping ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ its not a very good way to write a story. and some of the patient characters arent ready to hear such explanations even after the concepts have been introduced so I think the mangaka did the right thing in having a reader insert character. but I agree she's made out to be judgemental-- but then again, I wonder if that's deliberate to show the 'normal' way of thinking about mental illness in japan, and shes supposed to learn each time. i mean, its not ideal, but its one of the better options the mangaka had so I'm not upset about it

thats just imo tho. i hope to see her become passionate about psychiatry when the manga ends, and have her correcting others ways of thinking

tbf it does makes sense that she lacks knowledge for this (yes, I'm contradicting everything I've said before) since her previous job didn't have much to do with mental health, and she practically started working for yowai through connections. but it sure is confusing to see her say "gen-san's been full of energy till now, he didn't show any signs of depression, did he?" when something pretty similar happened to the smiling depression guy. and it's not like these characters are the only patients they're treating, so why tf is she so judgemental? but as the other person said, she was purposefully built to be ignorant, that's why I can't even dislike her character.
