Yes! Thank you! Took the words right out of my mouth. I don’t know if this may happen later, but I hate how no one told him off since the beginning tbh! When the emperor was like “yeah, I don’t care what you do just leave me and my girl alone” and then went on to say “stay quiet and live like you’re dead, then you can be with me” or sum shit. That would’ve been the moment I already went off on him. So I hope someone does eventually still do this in the future chapters, because it’s so annoying how no one actually says anything to him.

Yes, that's why I thought she would address his shortcomings in the guise of defending herself. I didn't get that so then maybe when he professed his feelings but again nothing. And O think those would have been good moments because one was Adelaide as empress talking and now she's a foreign princess of a country where their military are not decimated by the towers the emperor is so keen on maintaining.
The only thing I'm miffed about what is happening right now is that no-one is going off on the emperor. Like, Adelaide just stood there and took it instead of telling him that he refused her first for a mistress, then tried to forced her and when she didn't comply he resorted into trying to break her spirit telling her to just look pretty. Sure, she may have failed ONE of her duties as empress but he failed all his duties as husband and emperor.
I really can't believe that the only one that tried to interject with facts was the maid.
