Why do straight women continue to create BL? When the community they represent hates it? MAKE IT STRAIGHT, don't get me wrong, if women continue to write plots that romanticize r*pe in a straight story, they will still receive negative feedback from their readers, but if the problem with a BL story is "it feels heteronormative for gay people," this could have all been avoided if they went straight from the start it doesn't have to be gay. Straight people are profitable too.

I don’t know why you’re assuming gay people aren’t interested in straight stories, so there’s your first problem. Personally, I don’t condone rape or anything in fiction (whether gay or not), and I think that’s the case for a lot of other people as well. I don’t personally know, but I guess it all depends on who you ask. Nothing is really black and white, and reading from other people’s perspectives (I.e. reading a story about a sexuality other than your own) helps us develop empathy and love for one another, and putting people down for involving themselves in it is kinda bitchy.

You're obviously not the intended audience for my post, so read as many queer stories as you like, I don't care, but for those straight people seeking for a sign to drop queer stories and leave it all behind and plan to write bl, remember that it doesn't have to be gay The sexuality of your characters is not the plot of your story and if you are not gay, creating the sexuality of your main characters  as "gay" may be risky to your story if you are unable to properly represent them (cuz you're not gay). i see where you're coming from; gay porn is pretty common in BLs and a lot of them do seem to be written by straight women. but they are supposed to pander to their fetishes and stuff. there are plenty of unfetishized BLs or stories with BL elements with great storylines written by women as well. i don't know if the authors straight or not, but i love those stories bc of how well-written they are. As far as I'm concerned, sexualities are irrelevant when it comes to relating to characters, bc i can still relate to a character regardless of it. and i think you should read more stories with queer elements bc there's a lot to its genre beyond porn.
