It’s shown before the trial in other chapters that she’s tired of the position she’s in and thinks of it as a burden this was literally the opportunity to get away from the position she was in and when she lost her position and the archduchess asks her why she literally says that she’s TIRED of the position. Idk how you missed it but she didn’t want to be in this position she just wanted to protect the people. The author wasn’t being lazy and made up some shit it was literally foreshadowed her feelings of her position
Y'all are right but she left a very powerful position. Next to emperor she had the most power to make decisions. She decided to give up but she could have also EXPOSED his infidelity on Her wedding night!!! It looks like she's the only one in fault now while she's kept silent about her mistreatment. That's why author could have worked a better way around it me thinks
Um this is a historical setting. The Emperor having a mistress was no secret and he wouldn’t be blamed for it no matter what because he is emperor, especially since technically Diana was there first, Adelaide would’ve technically be the other woman in this situation the only thing that stopped her from being that is the fact she got the title of wife due to politics :/
Historical or not, she didn't like it, and decided enough was enough. What power do you speak? The power that the emperor himself tries to steal from her at every turn? The power whereby she tries to help people and the emperor and his right hand oppose her at every turn?
She's going to find her happy ending, with someone who will let her be herself, strong, independent, but also vulnerable as well. It doesn't matter the time period, if he made her miserable, then she will wear down in spirit. There is a reason we are where we are in modern society now with women so picky, it started from a time when women were so constrained as to have their very soul whittle down to nothing, but I digress. In this story, our heroine needs a man who will let her live for herself and do what she wants to do.
I just remembered while she was trialed that emperor ditched her to go spend the night with Dianne. She could've saved herself by exposing his fake love arse and could've possibly kept her position. Opportunity missed. Idk what author thought and how she just made up to give up her strong position
