Imo, The story is quite Psychological. Damon, suffered from heartbreak, which wasn't even his fault to begin with, his ex, lead him to believe that they can be something in the future, but his true colours are shown in the sequel of this.

Damon, not knowing his brother is coveting His Ex, wants to get together with him, but is only left with emptiness. His smile is beautiful but it's like Kim Dokja's, just a empty smile to fool others. The Ex is a piece of crap, and istg My boy Damon only suffered mentally and psychologically throughout everything, even his works were only cared for, instead of his opinions related to his works. He had a low self-esteem but never broke in front of anyone. Only when he related to the Mermaid tale, he was emotionally exhausted and he teared up in front of Colton, whom he thought has betrayed him like everyone else. However, Colton (Seme) himself had so many stuff going on too. He had an unrequited love for his step father Dylan, whom, his own father abuses and beats every day, Colton wanted to be refuge to him but in turn he felt more empty and hurt everytime Dylan deliberately brought up his father, he's really a Pushover just like the ex of Damon.

Therefore both Damon and Colton made a contract of being Sex partners to fill each other's emptiness. However, it backfired, since both of them had a fling many years a go, and Damon was the one to initiate it, later, Colton couldn't get over that time, and wished to meet him.
