I liked it but the uke is a bit of an idiot. He has to be spelled out that blood relatives aren't influenced by his powers. Something one would think is quite obvious. And then, when he gets kidnapped, he suddenly forgets that he can command people at will. He could have just told everyone to let him go and they would have complied.
