I agree. The duke is a real piece of shit, I hate him and I would love to see him suffer in real life, but I'm obsessed with that kind of fictional character... Villain, toxic handsome guys is somehow intriguing. But ONLY in fictions!
That's our guilty pleasure that's why we read fantasies. It would be boring to read if it's not spicy
I must say the Duke's character is only for stories if you crave angst and torturous agony in your journey to the end and find it most satisfying. But in our real lives we would always love a Kyle. Especially when you are older and you encounter a lot of people. Unfortunately there's no ultimate character development in real life. You are who you are. And in the real life this Duke is just plain trash.
