He is being hypocritical. If he was investigating her death for her justice, he should've felt something when he got to know what crown prince did.
He is too much of a 'cold duke' for me. It's not like he's unable to care. Idk, the shift between when he heard about it happen to ex fiancee and when it was almost attempted again to fl, it just turned me off. I feel sorry for ex fiancee. Nobody cares about her. Even her fiance. And I think that's a valid reason for me to not like him anymore.
All fair, but I should point out: He barely knew her or interacted with her (I don’t even think they interacted past greeting each other since it’s not a marriage he wanted in the first place). He wasn’t investigating the murder out of some sense of justice for her. He did it because he knew someone was plotting against him and that he had traitors in his midst, which enabled an enemy to trespass unto his property and kill someone in his own house before making it out, without him knowing who the culprit is. The fact that the person they killed that the woman he was engaged to meant someone was truly plotting some shxt directly against him. Also he’s detached about almost everything, even when he talks about his mother whom he seemed to love. His personality hasn’t changed. His feelings for one woman has. So hypocrisy isn’t really a term that describes him accurately here.
I think he didn't investigate it because he was interested isn't because Selina got involved herself...I m not criticise your point of view, it is valid and also I found you really empathetic as a person, but people are not obligated to care about other people if their don't interest them... it's cruel but it also reality...you care when you're interest if you don't you won't... it's different if you're empathetic, in the fact the duke isn't empathetic at all , he only cares about what he is interested. Yeah, and him not giving a shit made me not like him at all, because all I could see is ex fiance's pov. He just keeps looking worse when I look at it from her pov. If he had bothered to keep his own servants in check, this wouldn't have happened. He would be the worst ml if this story is from iris's pov. Like the most irredeemable trash. So I hate him, and fl, who as a fellow woman should've atleast been a little sad. I guess they're both too rational for me

Nah, he doesn’t. It’s harsh to say but a lot of people cannot easily empathize with the rape of someone they weren’t attached to. I’ve seen that in men especially. They know it’s horrible but they can’t emote it and it doesn’t touch them on a deep level unless the person it happened to, was the person they’re attached to in some way. I can see why that turned you off but the ML is very well adjusted given his background and upbringing. It’s just the reality of the situation. It’s sad but it doesn’t make him trash. And the FL was sad when she first heard about it a few chapters ago. She just didn’t emote her sadness when she told the ML about it. Not everyone naturally get s severely broken hearted over someone’s circumstances for days on end. It doesn’t actually make sense to expect that of them. It makes sense to wish they were, but that’s not reality.
No, he does need therapy. As the previous person said, he had no attachment to anything or emotion to anything. Even for his parents. he only likes fl for some reason. His parents raised him wrong, he has failed in learning to empathise. Your ex fiance is your responsibility, especially in those times. But he brushed it off so fast. Like I said you have your point but I also agree with @LaNansha... because a lot of people are not interested in someone problem if their don't interest in them , plus you're can't think people would think like you even if you have empathy, it's arsh to said it but you can't expect people to always agree with your logic because everyone is different, experience different things,can be empathetic, logical , rational, emotional, though, insensitive...in the end of day everyone is different

Just because someone doesn't sympathies with your situation doesn't make them a bad person. It also comes down to the Duke's upbringing, which is pretty transparent in the chapters. So I don't know why you're so pressed about it. Keep your one way thinking to yourself.
I already said I have a different way of thinking than him and also have different morals than him. Drop it already. I'd rather be an empath and not understand the duke than support his kind of thinking. All I can feel is immense sadness for iris, since nobody seems to give a shit about her, not even people here. You know you all won't say the same if iris was the fl. If this story was from her pov, people would be calling names about how awful the duke is, shutting down every kind of statement that supports him. Including his 'upbringing' But sure, I'm the one with one way of thinking.
