From the raws it simply looked like he got delayed. He promised to come early but ended up going pretty late. Also, it looks like we'll know why he keeps caaling himself fake sometimes. It looks like he didn't know it was money that he was returning as a child bc it was put in something like a chocolate box. He probably only realized he returned money after the police opened the box and found the cash. He probably regretted it a little.
