They will end up together. It's a toxic subgenre, the main couple are end game. People who read toxic stories don't care how toxic it is, the whole point is to see HOW they'll end up together.
If it does face backlash it will be only from people who wereren't the target audience to begin with, but insistee to read just because it was the same author as BJ Alex even though it's not the same subgenre. So no one cares about their opinion.
