    I think it's supposed to imply mysteriousness. But yeah, i can see why it could get annoying

    I've read somewhere, from an interview of a mangaka that uses that technique (one eye drawing in intense scenes) that he used that to imply that the character isn't being truthful. That could be one reason ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭ but seriously it's creepy ( ̄∇ ̄")

    That is an interesting explanation. It would also make sense as to why it would annoy or creep us out because as a reader we know the characters true nature. I always thought it made him look inhuman. At least to me...
