I get what you’re saying but lol. The bar is in hellllll if “only” raping the MC once makes him one of the best. Authors need to get new tropes cause it’s tired and very often terribly done.
Hmm...Why do bother reading it then? I'm always so curious why people keep reading when they know that 90% of most yaoi contain rape and then just whine and whine... even though it's fiction?! I rarely read yaois with a lot of rape in it, so doesn’t really apply to me. But I used to and it gets boring real quick because it’s the same thing in each story and barely get acknowledged and processed as rape by the characters. So i can’t really answer your question. My point was just that these terrible men get praise for being bad but not as bad as other rapists lol I was making a joke, whilst acknowledging that authors need to develop their story writing skills.

fortunately I do find hundred of BLs without rape, although I'd like stories with rape to be rarer.
As for reading this one, I think the initial shock of the first chapters made it hard for me to stop reading because I felt so bad for the mc, and then it's the writing and panelling qualities that kept me going, even though it was a somewhat painful read a lot of the time
Of all the yaois with so-called red flags, Taeju is one of the best! Some lock up the uke for weeks, chain their legs, break their feet, beats them, rape for days.....
Taeju clearly showed in the first chapter that he is a gangster ( quite likely that's why he raped him then ) and then sadly during his rut, but that was it!
It's always felt like he cares about Euihyun in his own special way! And now that everything has "calmed down", their feelings finally seem to show for real!
