story aside

little PSA for yall but if ure a writer pls dont bother real people like this, if youre a writer you should be able to make most things up (or do what most of us egomaniacs do and write about yourself one way or another lol), basing your character irl on a person this much is just lazy and uncreative writing I said what I said

THAT BEING SAID I LOVE THEIR DYNAMIC OHOHO it's kinda refreshing?? Still in the first season but looking forward to see how this unfolds

i see your point and bothering a person like this in real life should be avoided, but there are specifics in each person that a writer might need to observe to write an actually accurate person.
saying "as a writer you should be able to make most things up" could be dangerous in some situations, imagine if you were a completely normal healthy person writing a psychotic character, a human trait you have never seen or expirienced before
or if you were a fully abled person writing a disabled person (for example someone who doesnt have a leg lets say), you have both of your legs and no trauma or expirience of that life.
you should observe people ALWAYS, not invading their space like this, but educate yourself by watching interviews, reading articles and literature on the topics you want to write about or even try just asking for other peoples expiriences because everyones life is different.

misinformation is dangerous, as a writer you need to understand that people who read and listen to your words can and will take them with them for the future, so if you were to "make something up", without research, you become the problem that creates danger

Silly old me assuming people will take my point in good faith and not take the least reasonable and charitable interpretation and stretch it so much that suddenly my opinion is "dangerous". On the internet. Man I'm naive.

OF COURSE if you write about the experiences of groups of ppl that arent you you should not make shit up at random. If you wanna write about idk astronomers, do research and speak to astronomers and the field of astronomy. If you wanna write about a culture or identity that you're unfamiliar with, then consult multiple sources and do proper research. You know, like a person that does their job diligently. I feel redundant even typing this out loud. Any decent writer with any shred of education and/or experience should know that, though ofc on this platform a bunch of half-assed webtoons and manga I'm grateful not to be paying for would disagree lol.

CLEARLY, what the hypothetical BL artist did here isn't that, and one would think that it's clear it was not what I was referring to. He's following someone around and asking them what dishes they like, what clothes they wear and hyper-analyzing their every move. As someone who has been in a situation where a person in power over me (ex professor) used me exactly like that to "write" a story based on details about me and my friend's lives it is creepy, lazy and unimaginative and can barely be called creative writing (and usually ppl who write like that cant write their own stories or have interesting lives and thoughts of their own). That is what I was referring to and if you had applied a shred of good faith when reading u'd get that.

Im not even critical of the story, I think it's funny for what it is. The author clearly is just using it as a flimsy plot device for the story to go forward and that's fine. Just as someone who had that happen to them irl it was slightly upsetting to read, and I wanted to quickly express that actually irl that could be quite ugly.

I seriously wouldn't even disagree to your point as an addition to what i was saying if you didn't suddenly jump to "you making this jokey comment on an illegal pirating site where people are reading softcore homoerotic porn that's like 50 shades of cursed is DANGEROUS" as if someone will take my half assed comment underneath this webtoon and follow it like gospel their whole lives extremely literally and uncritically and that will have dire concesquences that would apparently be on me (???). If I have a piece of advice, try to up your media literacy skills because I don't think this was the point you thought it was. Also, words tend to fail us. Most of the time it is good to approach each other with that in mind.
