Yes but is 18 so he is in his 3rd year of high school. He is an adult but in jp u can consume alcohol at after u turn 20 so in that sense ppl under 20 a minor even tho at 18 they become adults. Enough to get driver's licence too i think.
That's just the drinking age in JP (20-21). Similar in east asian countries, tho in asia, the legal age is 18.
