I totally agree with you on this. I've read quite a bit and I won't even remember shit unless they're extremely good and I'm SUPER invested with the story. Except for names. I don't even bother much with names because I just say "MC" and "ML" I name them by their roles mostly.
Anyways, I would always find myself reading an ongoing story then in a week I would forget what it's about because the info gets buried with the other shit I'm reading so I leave summaries of the chapters I last read in my personal comment section, just so I can kind of try to dig in my memory if the info is still available in there then when I remember what the story is about I read the new fresh updates. This is however just a shortcut so I wouldn't have to re read the whole thing and just read the new chapters, but even then I won't fully remember all character names and events which sucks.
Sometimes if I just really can't remember shit I re read argh! I've done this so many a times and still doing it it's frustrating how I wish my brain just keeps the info without me having to dig through memory lane and find mosaic, blur and blank. My brain goes blank most of the time so I keep notes to make it a mosaic or blur lmao. Not sure if that makes sense. Blank means I forgot it all. Mosaic and blur means I kinda remember but I kinda don't but I don't wanna re read the whole thing again so imma read the new updates like I know everything that's going on and call it a day however while reading I will think that this is about this story but turns out I was thinking about a different story so it all gets messy but I just bulldoze my way through it.
So yes, HOW?!? I guess for the MC here he invested most of his interest on this 1 story. If he was like us who reads so many stories at a time based on availability (because most are ongoing) , information gets mixed up.
Also.. Correct me if I'm wrong because I haven't read this one for awhile... Doesn't he see the plot from his phone or something?? So he mostly has a cheat OR maybe this is from a different story I dunno.
I remember an MC who can read the Novel from his phone so it might be this but it might be not.
