I agree with that. But the duke manipulated them into thinking the towers killing people is the fault of the imperial family.
But then again that’s also inconsistent. If they truly believed that Diane herself wouldn’t be acting like she desperately needs the emperor. And now that they are older and in the midst of things they should be able to see who is the real culprit.
Exactly. It's all inconsistent with the character. I know the author wants to make an evil character but also give them a sob story but it needs to match up and make sense. Siiigh. I'll probablh still keep reading for the FL

Their combined evilness still doesnt make sense even if it is for SURVIVAL. Like, shouldnt you have hatred towards towers? Shouldn't you want to destroy it rather than complying and letting them run amok killing more people and other parents and kids?? Like the backstory would make sense to harbor hatred towards towers and your sister but no. He loves towers and loves watching it kill people the same way it killed his own parents. So confusing
