Instead of pursuing an investigation, the team decides to just get ready for the match and go to the MFC medical center. It seems cruel of them to leave Dan behind, but they’ve left him behind every time in the past, too. It’s not just now that Dan isn’t going with the team to the arena, it’s the normal procedure. They leave him behind and he arrives late and out of breath. But this time, when Dan shows up, he’s not running. He’s not out of breath. I think he has a plan and he’s going to fight back.
That said, Jaekyung yelled at him, but I’m pretty sure he’s just in pain and scared. Check out the panel where he says “Don’t touch me.” He looks scary, but look at the speech bubble: it’s not black. There isn’t an ! and his eyes aren’t glowing. There’s a dark shadow coiling around Jaekyung in that panel, signifying that something ominous is in the air. Jaekyung didn’t bring up anything connecting Dan to the other team, didn’t tell Dan to leave, and didn’t require restraint against Dan unlike Director Choi. Jaekyung was already worked up, yet he chose not to attack Dan and left quickly for the match. This is good: he still trusts Dan a little. He knows that the other team is out to get him and they are even so bold as to enter his locker room. Jaekyung just doesn’t have the time or temperament to handle the situation with sensitivity so he leaves.
Notice in the past (after he realized that he can’t bully Dan like used to as per the home physician) that he avoids Dan or silently stews when their relationship gets rocky. He doesn’t come for Dan’s life and he doesn’t threaten to hurt him like he does to everyone else. He treats Dan differently. He’s still treating Dan differently: he would’ve pummeled another person if they’d hurt him like that. I don’t know if he’s feeling betrayed or reminded of betrayal or simply having flashbacks to a prior betrayal and his past with Junmin, but Jaekyung seems more horrified than anything in this episode. He knows his opponent, knows his opponent fights dirty, and who knows! Perhaps Jaekyung has encountered a set up like this before where someone else was used to take him down unbeknownst to them.
Let’s just see how it unfolds. We still have one character to meet (Cheolmin hyung is the home doctor): Seo Gichan. This person will soon play a role in the story, and likely a big one. Let’s trust Mingwa to have some good twists in store for us.
Losing the match isn’t going to get you the results you want. He has a trigger and a drive from the past that makes him want to win. If he loses, he will be triggered and he could take it out on Dan. It would be later force him to handled his emotional baggage from the past.
What he deserves is Dan breaking his heart. He will change.
The other side is cheating and will take away from him glowing up. He needs to lose without foul play.
