No... That isn't romantic or sweet, I can't think of a context where it would be anything good, it's sad and selfish. Can you imagine, asking the person you love to be miserable because you want their presence, isn't that contradiction?

I just finished binging on "Yuri on Ice" for like the 100th time and I'm wallowing in romantic feels now :D (▰˘◡˘▰)

Really? you don't think it would be romantic for your loved one, whom upon realizing you you are ready to give up on life (capable of committing suicide), he/she pleads with you to choose life with him/her, despite all the struggles and suffering that are part of the human experience, versus death? You think death trumps life?

What Haru is doing here is begging Meiji is to stay with him because Haru loves him, despite what others say, even if the whole world thinks that Meiji is a burden to Haru, Haru doesn't care; to choose him over death (because Meiji implies he would literally die as soon as Haru left him), to choose life with him, even if that life includes sorrows, at least they will carry those burdens and sorrows together, and not alone (if they separate) or dead if Meiji kills himself. In other words "Don't die and leave me alone, live with me so that we can experience the good and bad life has to offer together". To me, that is indisputably romantic (≧∀≦)

Just in case you missed that, Meiji tells Haru that if Haru had broken up with him, he would wish him happiness and "die in peace":
