WTF have I just read..!?!! but man, chapter 4 chewed and spit out my heart! For those that were confused by chapter 4, the "Unidentified Mysterious Animals" (UMAs) he constantly saw throughout his life were actually pedophiles/sexual molesters. We can infer by what his friend says that Riku was first sexually molested when he was in the second grade, and at such a young age, not understanding what was happening to him, Riku associated the sexual molesters with aliens or as he calls them, UMAs and eventually became a sort of defense mechanism to escape reality. What he's actually describing is being gang-raped out in the field, the "gooey" stuff he was choked with was semen, and the infirmary sensei realizes this, gets turned on by it and rapes Riku; this is why Riku says he didn't know "UMAs" were in school too. We can infer this is the first time he's sexually molested by someone in school.
His friend Sora realizes all of this at the end, and finally understands what UMAs really are for Riku and even alludes to have been sexually molested or have had a sexual molestation experience once in his lifetime (it could also be him witnessing the infirmary sensei raping Riku). Sora bawling at the end is heartbreaking, because he finally understands that Riku has most likely being raped multiple times since they were children. Sora called the police and Riku will most likely be committed for psychiatric treatment.
