It probably fails because all the odds are against her. Can’t fault her intelligence cause she’s finally gotten a taste of freedom and it’s fleeting so she’s torn between clinging to it and thinking about her ‘duties’.
The FL is a realistic person showing her depression and accepting things because she is controlled by the people around her. People in depression do end up showing this type of behavior irl too so cant help it. You need someone to pull you out from there
