That is an act of caring for her though. The father trusted the mother's judgment. He thought that the family is someone you could trust with because the 1st princess did so too. That's why he was extremely angry when he learned about what really went on. He also did a lot of self reflection and came to a conclusion that this is just his bad karma for having a child despite being a priest. Notice how this is also a cycle in the story? Whenever something bad happens to Ashya, he automatically blames himself for "betraying Lord Lux". That is a sign of brainwashing caused by the high priest. This is justified by the fact that ML's kingdom also believes in Lord Lux. But priests can marry there and gain money.
Dude was brainwashed into thinking he triggered bad things to Ashya. If you can’t understand how psychology breaks you, then I've got nothing more to say to you. He is also a victim of his own circumstance. Given that doesn't excuse how that caused FL's death 9 times, but that doesn't mean we can call him all the bad words in the dictionary because he picked bad choices. Also he only ever somehow caused Ashya's death like 2 or 3 times. The others times she died was because she run away from the family that "raised" her.
So he didn’t send anyone to check up on her due to trust. That’s a mistake and a bad choice. Again, not a great excuse, a reason, but not an excuse. And I’m fully aware how psychology breaks you, been there myself. But if you want to speak psychology, if one has mental issues does that excuse everything they do? Do people who are brainwashed by cults or dictators are excused for harming people? Are narcissistic parents (it’s a mental illness) excused for abusing their kids? Are psychopaths excused for harming people? No. Because psychological circumstances are a REASON, but not a justification or excuse. And again, when have I called him a bad person. Quote me on that. You can be a good person and a bad parent. See how we are circling back to our previous points? That’s the core of why our opinions differ (yours and mine&other people), 1. I don’t find being a bad person and a bad parent the same inseparable thing, and 2. because you consider reasoning and circumstances the same as justification and we don’t.
I know some people might disagree abt what I gonna write just keep in mine this is how I see things. I know the dad wanted to protect the FL but it caused her only more pain and suffering. I understand he blames himself and thinks she’ll be in harm way if she’s with him. But she’ll be in harms way regardless. She’s a princess many people will be after her like her aunt. Shouldn’t he have known people will try to harm her regardless cus she’s a princess?
Why did he never check up on her or send someone to spy on her to see how she was???
Also I’m glad she finally yelled at him. Yes I feel bad for him but she’s suffer far worse because she didn’t have anyone protecting her bc he thought she was better off without him. I wanna see how he reacted when in all her lives she died alone and afraid. Like in those lives I wanna see how he acted when he heard she died. Probably say/ think (I should’ve been there for her so I could’ve protected her while sobbing ect I think he even would kill himself) seems like the type who would kill themselves cus of guilt. I liked his crying face tho.
Maybe after every death he killed himself so she would go back in time idk just guessing lol. Idk I don’t hate him but his past actions hurt the FL a lot and she suffered cus of this. FL died painful deaths and listed to hurtful words she never lived long enough to be an adult. Also I hate everyone on the mom side of the family, they all suck and the gramps too cus he’s just using her cus he thinks she can listen to god ect. Hells throw her away if she had no use.
As for who I think gonna be the ML I think black haired ngl. Tho the other kid with the light hair is cute too but he hasn’t been showing up recently so idk.
