True, but I think the most annoying thing about the duke is that he definitely knows he is wrong but won’t admit it because of his silly pride. Why is he even a duke? He doesn’t deserve it.
He, himself, doesn't want the mine. He spoils his adoptive daughter and everything she says comes to fruition, so he listens to her whims. I'm addition to that, he's terribly prideful (never admitting when he's wrong and divorces were rare among nobles). So long as the daughter didn't want the divorce, neither did he.
