Fiction doesn't mean characters can't be infuriating. There's a few straight manhwa on this site with MLs who are shit like Illay and people FLAME them dunno why the yaoi characters don't get the same treatment.
Neither did I. I also didn't go into it thinking the author would write a romance with a literal murderer rapist sadistic asshole whose romance is only possible bc he's hot and plot magic tho ¯_(ツ)_/¯
How is Ilay not infuriating you?
He has not done a single redeemable thing. Not this entire story. The best thing going for him is that he can hold a fun conversation. Other than that, every interaction has been him raping, assaulting, or killing people.
Maybe the yaoi genre really is a breeding ground for fetishization of gay people and toxicity.
