He was thrown into the battlefield and had to earn his title, rewards and wealth and her father is trying to take over the mine he won as a reward via sabotage. He thinks she's already in love with the crown prince when he married her and he hates her because he assumes she's like her father and most likely even being used by her father to steal his mine

You're told only about how forceful he was during sex at first, but she eventually reveals that when she got sick and was dying he stayed by her side and she can't hate him knowing that he did that. She also discovers that her husband has PTSD, something she didn't know in her first life that explains why he was so... How he was. He was always sleep deprived and emotionally ravaged and he never let anyone know because he didn't want anyone to know his weakness
