it hasn't been revealed yet. they didn't really talk about the reason of the massacre or the politics of it
it's just a wild guess but I'm guessing the seme is not the true villain? I'm not sure if this is a spoiler but the seme did say about this whole killing people he did was "the evil has to be terminated by the lesser evil" and the lesser evil refers to him
Seems like his dad was doing some political scheme so that the one that is king today did not rise to the throne, but a younger prince or something like this, in a way it was a kind of treason. The king then sent ML to kill the MC also family because they were to powerful, just like he’s doing right now, he sent the ML to deal with the guys in this region because they were getting to powerful. The king seems to be some political devil that just sends someone to kill whoever is in his way, and the ML is the butcher.
Well from what I get he knows he’s doing the king’s dirty job. In my point of view there’s not something like a good side and a bad side, just politics and people trying to get power and richness like it’s always been with humankind. ML from what I remember is a bastard son, and had it rough since he was young. He was sent to battle and grew up in a environment of war. He saw the aspiring and greedy king as a way to he himself gain respect and power, and since he is super effective and intelligent he get to where he are now. There’s a chapter where he meets up with his dad and his dad accuses him of everything he did, everyone he killed and that those deaths would come to hunt him, and he acknowledges that, he knows he’s not a saint, but that he’s doing what he has to do so he himself has respect and don’t die in the hands of the king and the others. There’s evil everywhere. The ones his dealing with right now are not saints also, so that’s why he says he’s the lesser evil.
That’s my interpretation of the story. Not a bad or a good side. Maybe the prince that the MC father was trying to support was a better choice than the one in power now, and that’s why he was trying to put the boy in power, maybe also because it was someone he could control better, since he was one of the three most powerful man in the kingdom at the time and probably knew that the other prince would try to kill him eventually, as had happen. Politics.
I dropped it few months ago so i have a question, was ukes dad really a traitor or was he set up?
