I feel it's unfair to call the mc stupid, everyone is so considerate of the ml perspective but no one's considerate of the mc's. yes he's doing stupid things but at the same time he's not being told anything and is expected to just sit there and look pretty. no one likes being kept in the dark and when they are they'll try anything to get information and thats what the mc is doing. we the readers know it's a stupid choice cause we're already well informed, the mc isn't.
