No no noway. This is disturbing. Men like them are scary. I mean i have dropped some manhwas if i can't tolerate them. But this a story we read. This is he authors story. We can either read it or drop it. Thats what i said. Well the seme is redeeming himself so we just have to wait and watch what happens. One thing for aure is that i never said to forgive a rapist.
I completely agree with you. No one should be making excuses for Taeju and honestly majority of these comments are f*cking disgusting for saying “he’s a green flag” or “he’s the best”. The honest truth is he isn’t, and he’ll never be. He’s not a good person and I still don’t see a character development for him since he’s still a controlling piece of sh*t. It’s not an opinion, it’s just a fact. This story is fun to read, but these people being completely delusional to see the truth are ruining my enjoyment for it. There’s a big difference between liking a character knowing he’s toxic and liking a character while denying that the character is toxic.
We all know this is fiction, so of course none of what’s happening in this story would ever be ok in real life. Putting that aside, it’s ok to read toxic relationships for fun (maybe not but we don’t have any money for therapy). All I’m saying is people need to stop denying the fact that this relationship is toxic and always will be if they stay together. It will never be healthy, there will not be a perfect happy ending, Taeju will never be healthy enough for Euiyoung and that’s ok. That’s why we’re reading the story. Euiyoung will never live the perfectly normal, happy life he wants and it is what it is ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭
Y'all.... Would you say this about someone who just recently raped someone? “people can change” sure, but like.... So? That doesn’t actually change their actions in the past. That doens’t change that they have victims out there in the world.
This comment section is fucking wack. All y'all need Jesus, and I’m not even religious
Okay, so what my original comment meant was that you can read about characters that are POS’s, acknowledge that they are absolutely horrible, terrible people, that their actions are abhorrent, and that their mentalities are fucked... While also appreciating the story and the fact that the character is complex, that the topics are hard to deal with, and that it is not so much a cutsie love story so much as a terrifying tale of a man who has suffered abuse all his life and this is another one of those times.
So, basically, I'm saying here that you can appreciate a story such as this without trying to make excuses for the abusers or trying to spin it as some cute loves story, like some people in this manga’s comments have. There are literally people in this section that have said he WAS a red flag but NOW he’s green, somehow. This is fucking wild to me — and it honestly worries me that people would say that, because if they legit mean it and aren't trolling, they might think someone irl who is abusive could change if they just ~stuck with them a little longer~. The issue here is that I have MET people like that, who are so swept up in the idea of someone changing that they sweep the past under the rug.

This is THE thing that disturbs/worries me, is that people may conscious or unconsciously be too naive IRL with regards to real abusers.
Also, that they may not properly define what abuse is because toxic stories can depict insane extremes and therefore fail to see more discreet, creeping toxicity
especially since in real life, rapists and abusers are a type of person that is extremely likely to make fake promisses about becoming better, to manipulate their victim into staying with them. IRL abusers are not like Vinland Saga's Thorfinn (who's got a bloody amazing story). Which of course doesn't mean that no people ever change, but that this particular category of criminals is prone to lie and manipulate. Drug dealers and many other types of delinquents and criminals are actually way more redeemable IRL.
.... As long as you acknowledge that they are absolute shit. Characters that are legit horrible people and that author treats them as such can be rich and three-dimensional. Appreciating this does not make you a bad person.
However what DOES make you a bad person is making excuses for the abuser. Taeju is a horrible person. He’s a rapist, an abuser, and an asshole. No amount of character growth can make this relationship okay. This man should be in jail, at the VERY least, and should not be given the benefit of the doubt literally ever.
They should not be together, even if he goes full 180 and becomes a fucking saint.
