I feel like you’re reading way too deep into this. They’re both children who don’t even know what that stuff really means. At most, the mc thought a mate was just an important person who would stay by his side forever. I don’t see the issue when they’re both kids and neither of them obviously have the mind of an adult that holds up acceptable age gap logic. When I was around their age, age gap was non-existent and something that meant nothing and something I knew nothing about.

I think you may need to reread the chapter because it seems your memory is failing you and somehow switched the roles. It was the mc (5y/o) that kissed the ml (12y/o). The ML scolded him for it. And at the very end he was just like “I’ll protect you in the future.” It’s crazy how you warped it to make him seem disgusting like he pushed himself onto the younger one.
