I don’t think the mistake is bad enough for him to be completely lacking of empathy. HOWEVER, it does show concerning behavior. It’s the fact that he lied to the MC and said he would solve the problem, and suddenly sprung on his second confession. This caused pressure on the MC and made her unable to reject him in the moment to ensure that her mom wouldn’t be embarrassed in front of her friend and someone very influential (ML’s mom). It’s worse when you think longer because he knew she would reject him again if she had the ability to say no with zero consequences.

Like throughout the series he’s painted as a cold looking person who’s very kind and attentive, but this scene kind of undermines everything. Like Jihyeok is the villain because he never listens to the MC and is generally rude. In a lot of webcomics, characters like Jihyeok are used to show how much better the ML is. But in that marriage meeting, the ML was putting the MC into a really uncomfortable situation which mirrors Jihyeoks behavior which is framed in a bad light.

BUT AGAIN, it is only one mistake — and everything else about him is good and he seems quite nice. It’s just that he was (1) really manipulative in that scene and (2) didn’t realize what he did was bad until the MC explicitly told him that. In the magical world of manhwa, he’s probably gonna be perfect now. But in real life, it is definitely a flaw which would be repeated so I kinda get that they would drop it.
