Yes it does matter because of the socio-historical context that we have in the real world that influences these choices to be made in story telling. And it's exactly because he's a rich white old nobleman (that they're all rich white nobles) that we see an enslaved person be brushed off like an unimportant plot device without thought.
It's fine to portray the dehumanizing nature of slavery in media, it's not fine to affirm it. "The beastman slave being sold at auction that randomly attacks the wealthy white woman" totally isn't a show of existing racism and prejudice, right? This plot point should have been cut and revised in the editing stage.
*High-fives @Elias * thanks for tapping in! Because I’m sure I wouldn’t have been able to do the topic justice as you have.
I’m just so honestly disturbed that a historically stereotypical scene of racial propaganda just popped up in the middle of my romfan story! So casually! Instigated by the MC no less! Even going so far as to make it a “beast-man” slave attacking the pure noble lady.
*grits teeth takes deep breaths*
Anyways~ I appreciate such a well-informed response! ヾ(❀╹◡╹)ノ~
WAIT! Are we all glossing over The Slavery!? Like did I skip a chapter where MC explains that they didn’t knowingly Beat and Use an Enslaved person so BiBi could distract a high ranking, old, white guy???? The wolf guy was in on the plan right??? They set him free or he wasn’t a slave at all right??
And then MC acts all giggly and flirty with ML in the next scene!?! While that poor guy was probably f killed or tortured after!!!! Wth?!
Oh okay wow the girl is pregnant…..Says the high ranking, old, white guy, we’ve never seen before. Nothing to be sus around here~
