i wouldn’t put it that vague the ML has clearly had an interest in him since highschool with those little details alone you can see he likes him and how he acted when they kissed in highschool both need communication which is the problem in every darn story but i do hope we get to see the ML point of view very few stories gives us both sidesssSs
plus they did mention that he’s also pretty popular so other do consider both of them attractive so he better start actually believing he ain’t ugly
From the MCs pov he doesn't have any good qualities necessary for strong attraction from ML. They're not even dating and ML is like a celeb in his circle so many reasons for low self esteem.
Their relationship is also vague, they don't have any promise of exclusive dating too so overthinking is really possible.
