his actions make a lot more sense towards the end of book 1 (& if you read the extra chapters of riftans pov before the wedding)
Like I've said I've already read it. It doesn't change that he's very annoying like he's always demeaning her and treating her as a toddler. He had to talk to her guards about what she did instead of directly talking to her. And people kept making excuses for his actions like he suck at communication - gurl if he doesn't even interested in listening to your side it means major problems
Riftan really sucks ass. He just sees Maxi as that rich pretty lady that needs protecting without getting to know her. I've already read his POV in the novel and It's still annoying AF that he treats Maxi more like a pretty vase than her own person. He doesn't bother reading deep into her, he's in love with the idea of her. He forced his own label of happiness on her which always backfires because Maxi feel like Riftan doesn't believe on her own capabilities.
There are other toxic MLs there so maybe my tolerance is high but still my standards are not on the floor. Riftan needs to step up because I keep thinking Maxi deserves better. Like a man who can treat her as an equal and uplift her dreams. A partner who's just blind to your beauty ain't it. A partner who stares in the same direction as you is the ideal one.
