I knew it was coming, but I was enjoying watching him stand up for himself, even just a little bit. I hate that every story ends with the abused returning to their abuser out of sympathy because of some grand event, or because the abuser is depressed because they have to *gasp* live with the consequences of their actions. Although I don’t like the idea of someone being stabbed ( I would have preferred he just got one good a** whooping to make him leave the poor guy alone), I do understand wanting to make sure he at least didn’t die. I just wish this could end with a sensible lesson like, “It’s ok to feel bad something happened to someone, but still not get involved with them romantically”, but it won’t. They’ll end up together like this is all normal and acceptable.
