I think we all just have to remember that Shizuma grew up in a very healthy environement in which his parents love and respect each other. He is very attentive and try to undestand Minato but it’s not easy. Remember when he read books about homosexuality. Of course it is a very clumsy way to do but he tried. And for someone who was raised by caring parents it could be difficult to really understand Minato’s insecurity. Even with great empathy, it’s hard. So no, he’s not dumb. He’s naive, candid and a little oblivious. And for what I read from spoliers when the things will turn a little nasty with the boss, he will put clear boundaries. But I think it’s hard for him to understand how such little things will turn in big problems from Minato point of view. Even if I love him, I think it’s Minato who has to do something about his insecurity. I know it’s very difficult but one first step is maybe to understand that Shizuma’s love is just one way for him to get better but not the complete medicine.
