Her having low self-esteem is very relatable in real life situations. You cannot expect a person who feel that way since the very beginning of the story to immediately garner self-confidence, considering that she's also inside someone else's body. I think she's just really being hesitant, it's not her body after all.

And also you may have the confidence but once it was shaken again you can’t help but fall with it a little I feel for her because I understand it so much like it doesn’t affect you that much but words can be poison sometimes and can stamp on you like a mark that you can’t rid off your mind, it may seem like a boohoo story but this experience very true
Don't get me wrong I even know the feeling of having your self-confidence trampled but I'm saying that it is getting way to much time of the storyline...I'm not comparing real life with this I am annoyed at the story itself
