Maybe he thought that by saying he had a lover, rumors would spread, and you know about that thing with the cat, they're just ALL about curiosity and they would probably try to investigate who the lover is and be annoying yknow

I think the ml is a green flag but sometimes his lack of words is a bit of an eh, he could explain it clearly to clear up things
