It's because Jinju is in denial of her own feelings. She thinks "oh there's no way we can be together, I'm married and she's too young for me" just so she has an excuse not to be with her.

She knows that Doyeon isn't a kid but she's making an excuse. Especially because Jinju has no prospects in life currently.

24 is too young for 40, you are in completely different stages of life and the 24 year old’s stupid brain hasn’t fully developed yet. Jinjoo has no problem having sex with her and emotionally dominating her so why is she suddenly getting some pseudomorals?

It's also cause Jinju is jealous. Like I said, Jinju is in denial about her own feelings. In her mind, one of the reasons, she can't be with Doyeon is because of their age gap. When she says, "She's too young for you" she's not only saying that about the teacher but also about herself. No one said she's isn't being hypocritical or anything It's just why she had her outburst. She's confused about her own feelings and projecting.

24 and 40 is a huge age gap as well. Maybe if it's a few years down the line it'll be fine but I agree 24 is too young for a 40yo but 24 is for sure not a kid. Young adult is what a 24yo is. I wouldn't put a 24yo in the same category as a 18 or 19.

(I'm closer to Doyeon's age at 27. I would never date anyone younger than me (27 is as young as i would go) but if I got into a relationship with 40yo it would be fine because I'm over 25, so maybe they can be together later down the line they could be together

I completely agree with you, 24 isn’t a kid by any means but the experience in life is just so vast between a 24 and a 40 year old, what would a 40 year even want with a 24 year old especially since the power dynamic would be so skewed

Oh 100% I agree. 24, 25, or sometimes even 26 is far to young for someone in their 40's. Completely different stages of life. The power dynamic is in the hands of the older person.

The original topic of this comment thread was "why did Jinju yell at the teacher that Doyeon is basically a kid" tho. So we were talking about Jinju's denial, Jealousy, and guilt projecting on to the teacher. That's why she was being a hypocrite.

Jinju herself is a very interesting character because she truly has no control over her own life. She was a studious girl with strict parents (we get hints of this in the backstory we've seen of her) who straight up told her that she's not welcome back if she leaves with him (She was like 17 at the time) and then her husband keeps her as a house wife then LEAVES her to loan sharks.

She then stays with Doyeon, who means we'll, but even she starts to not let her leave the house and becomes midly possessive. She breaks off her relationship (which was 90% good) with Doyeon to go back to her rat of a husband for not only Her benefit but Doyeons as well because she knows Doyeon is young and will find someone better (she said this)

Jinju needs to go off and find something for herself and gain her own independence because she was never able to have it.

jinju projecting onto the prof makes a lot more sense now when you think about how the prof was baiting her anyways. interested to see how this plays out bc even when jinju accepts her feelings, the age dynamic will still remain
