I'm leaning on number 2, because there needs to be a heated argument that leads to "break-up". Maybe, number 1 could happen too where he is beginning to realize what he almost lost, but he would not accept his feelings, so he'd probably still shout at Dan and fire him. I don't think Jk can redeem himself at Dan's presence. Before a redemption arc leading to mutual confessions, there is often a moment where the pair separate, so that they can both brood and reflect on their own. That then pushes one of them to realize their true worth (gaining confidence) and the other to realize their mistake and rekindle the romance (gaining humility). I'm thinking whether Jk might need to lose a game or get seriously injured in a fight himself before he realizes things.
last panel implies dan’s about to get in trouble. there’s two outcomes;
1. dan gets saved and this is where jk’s like “holy shit he almost died i suddenly give a fuck abt his wellbeing” and he starts to “redeem” himself
2. dan gets saved and victim blamed by jk
