They are not. The man he was sleeping with is an art teacher. I believe it confirms at the bottom of chapter 1 that the man is the painters art teacher, not the painters famous artist father.
I thought about it but at the same time, the famous painter could be an art teacher as well. But I just hope what you’re saying is true (●'◡'●)ﾉ
