That's what. That's why from the beginning I can't hate her completely like I would do much worse if I was in her situation.
People in the comments keep saying it's her fault she fell in love with a traitor and she is responsible for her clan dying but like she is not ?!?!
She just fell in love.
The victim blaming is strong. The only people responsible are God and that Goddamn Emperor.
I get she turned villainous now and I hate her actions of taking revenge on people who are unrelated, but like what can she even do. She is alive and everyone is dead.

I completely agree! Plus it’s that FL doesn’t have her own respectable reasons to be upset, it wasn’t only her family that she lost, I just think she chose a terrible path to take. I also don’t know how anyone who read the first king’s journal wouldn’t sympathize with the witches. There’s so much potential for the story to go in a more reconciliatory direction and I hope eventually it gets there. After all, FL has essentially put all her energy into putting an unsuitable man on the throne at her own expense. There’s a sort of parallel there between stories.
the more we learn about the backstory the less i can get behind it. the enemy being the sole survivor of a genocide ordered by her lover, someone who got all of his power through her, and were supposed to think she’s this evil bitch and not a victim? I’d be mad too if i were her. she did terrible things, yes, but her cause is a lot more convincing than fl’s need to put a bratty little shit on the throne
