My theory is that *all* of them are real people. Remember how Bada mentioned he doesn’t remember who he was in the real world? My guess is that they entered the game planning to play some virtual mystery/horror. However, due some sort of glitch and to various players mistakes they kept having to repeat the game over and over until all of them lost their memories, even Bada who only remembered that he had to finish the game but not the rest of the details. Slowly due to maybe Bada’s actions Doha once again regained some of his instincts (knowing he had to kill the villager in the first run) but not necessarily knowing why he felt compelled to do something. I think when they’re acting as NPCs maybe the virtual machine has more control of them but once their consciousness is triggered that’s when they act OOC/outside of Bada’s predictions.
