I thought the story already gave us a clear picture about it. I don't remember the chapter but it was about why are the rooms representing the dragon because it something to do with the emperor. And when both the prince and Lily almost died then there was a shadow of a dragon and then the emperor suddenly appeared.
Well, you're clearly more attentive than me. I only thought about them being descendants of dragons, not the actual thing. I might re-read to check all the details now.
I always understood them to be descendants of a dragon who growing up as a human awaken their powers yo transform into one... but the actual mysterious "uncle" was actually the ancestor (meaning he's actually like the grandpapapapa dragon or something). He was betrayed once, and he left the empire because of it... It makes sense to me.
Right? I really thought he's just Someone from the family who inherited a great amount of some draconian shit that's why he's so strong and magical. But goddang he's a real deal. But then again. Y'all are even not shocked about something else. LILY'S MOTHER HAS BEEN FUCKING A DRAGON SEVEN DAYS A WEEK, EVERY HOUR, EVERY MINUTE!!! Lily might have save her mother from being bed ridden when she asked the emperor to stop "bullying" her mother
