Their relationship was very cute tbh. So lily did focus and pursue her career as a painter. But the marquess didnt stop from pursuing her instead supported her and took a step back, waiting for her to be ready. His patience was rewarded when lily reciprocated so they when lily was already stable (iforgot if it was early twenties or mid twenties tbh) but there was a thing with ashley and her wanting to succeed mildred’s count title. In order for her to succeed she must be single until 30. And in order to protect ashley, cos ppl might target her if it was known she was the heir, lily promised to stay single until 30 too to confuse ppl who will be the heir, so lily and the marquess has this situationship going on where they are exclusive but not really official lmao. This relationship continued for years until ashley as eligible to succeed. I think lily was already 30 or 31 at this point. The funny thing is, months before, lily got pregnant before ashley turned official, so as soon as the title can be passed down, they became official and i think tied the knot (not really 100% sure cos some say they waited for the baby) really love how our girls transformed these men into great lovers, like the marquess was took her words srsly and tried to understand her, not just at superficial level.
