To add- aeroc gets horrible flashbacks too, everytime Claude makes snide remarks he gets reminded of he was treated in the past and tells Claude “I can get hurt too.” Claude knows his feelings for aeroc are severe but he ignores the nightmares as just stress bc of aeroc. Claude demands children, aeroc gets sad and says, “how many should I give in this life” and Claude mistakes it as aeroc already given birth to someone else’s child.
So far- even if Claude didn’t remember the past, or the past didn’t happen, he still treats aeroc pretty badly. You’d think their relationship would be better but no, Claude has some kind of power over aeroc and he uses it to his advantage.

This is just my analysis of the character so take this as a grain of salt.
I think they have this power grab dynamic because of the person they used to or their social and economic standing at the time. They both see each other as rude people having to argue because of their "pride" as an alpha and their socio economic standing.
This is also why I often think to myself of what the characters might have done if there changes in the original story (the whole AU thing) perse if aeroc just committed to what he promise of not getting close to the two (though he only said he would not get close to raphiel) while kloff slowly recovers his past memory of what aeroc done and what he did to aeroc on the past timeline.
Or in the AU where kloff regress and let go of his obsession with aeroc and just pursue raphiel and watch aeroc from afar having another person developed feelings for him.
Or what if the one who turned omega was kloff and not aeroc. Or maybe from both AU timeline, aeroc doesn't turn omega, like what resolution does the kloff who doesn't know his past life and the kloff who knows his past life do to resolve his feelings for aeroc.
This is just some interesting "what ifs" in my mind
yes definitely, in the novel it delves more into Claude’s title and social standing- because his family name went down the drain and he had to work his ass off to get the least bit of recognition from other nobles, he viewed aeroc with somewhat hatred but also envy, like “this dude’s got everything, got the title, the looks, and he doesn’t have to do anything” and his feelings very much show with how he treats aeroc. Aeroc also does the same thing in the novel, everytime Claude claps back at him, he thinks of Claude in condescending manner- but that was only in the past.
It would be interesting if there was a role reversal au, what if Claude was the highest ranking noble with all the wealth and fame while aeroc is this struggling alpha- would Claude still hold prejudice against alpha x alpha relationship, or will he support it now that he’s got social/wealth backings? I feel like in the end they won’t have a smooth relationship for any AUs just bc of their social standing
for people who wanna know, Claude becomes mentally insane/unstable, and has a breakdown after aeroc’s death. The eldest son leaves the house, the second eldest gets struck by Claude during his breakdowns, and all his other children leave him.
Then it switches to current timeline (second au where Claude and aeroc meet again). In this timeline, aeroc remembers what happened in the past. He tries to give space between him and Claude. Claude already has a crush on him the first time they met at the garden- he gets random nightmares of his past life, and it messes his feelings for aeroc bc he gets conflicted emotions (ex: I like aeroc but he’s an alpha, who parades himself like an omega slut). He tries to get rid of his feelings for aeroc, who he thinks is untouchable by getting with rafiel- they date and Claude is ready to marry him BUT aeroc shows up in his life again, seeking his help bc he doesn’t know how to work finances and keeps getting into scam.
Aeroc throws another party and knows Claude is gonna propose to rafiel, he sets up this orchestra and performs this sad song in front of them to show his feelings- Claude tries to propose but gets angry at the sight of 2 random alphas semi-fucking in the garden. Proposal ends badly- him and rafiel break up, Claude pursued aeroc bc he thinks, now that rafiel has passed he will try aeroc. Then boom! Aeroc is suddenly turning into an omega- tries to buy suppressants in the brothel area, almost gets assaulted and Claude saves him. They both get into rut/heat, and after having sex for 3 days, Claude immediately thinks they are together, will get married, and needs to lock up aeroc bc he’s an omega and no one should know.
I haven’t finished but there’s 4 volumes (1st is past life, 2nd is present life, 3rd was when Claude remembers past life I think, and the 4th one might’ve been if both of them remembered, but I’m not too sure I’m only on 2nd volume)
