I was thinking that as a possibility too. But I am also wondering if it isn't some kind of personality split. Like his magic and full memories are in a fake body for safe keeping called Lucas and the real body is a jumbled up mess of vague memories just keeping the show running.

My guess is that Luca is the Dukes future self or something bc 1. He defends his actions 2. Talks about how much “pain” he is in 3. Takes away ppls memories at times 4. Looks like and acts like him
