It's reality. Many mothers of past generations are like this. They were raised to follow their husband. They have no say in anything. It's sad as I relate to Toudou. My mom loves me but doesn't stand up against my father for me
This is not just a “past generation” issue its a “current generation” issue still. I dont know you or your family so i have no reply on the personal aspect of your comment, im talking about the manga and in general. A grownass woman who can formulate her own opinions and emotions IS capable of PROTECTING her child as she SHOULD against anybody, CHOOSING not to when you live in a developed country that does give women rights (tho they still need further updating) such as Japan makes that possible. The mother here and ones like her with the privilege of living in such a country where women have basic rights and social programs are wrong for acting like this. It’s her choice - she could do better but is CHOOSING to be passive, she’s accountable for that.
I hate how in these stories the mom’s never stand up for their kids. They just stand behind AND with the husbands while they assault them, kick them out the house, and ostracize them. How do you as a mother let anybody treat your baby like that smh. The brother gets the side eye too! He seemed to accept Todou but barely talked to him but twice a year?! Why?
