This is almost the opposite, the man tried to be super nice but the number of resentful female ghost are all killed the same way and multiplying too fast for it to be a misunderstanding unless it's a family member doing it and they're clinging to him in anger.
Or could be that professor stealing studies to gain fame and reputation and then killing those bright ladies that came up with the original ideas to avoid trouble and neatly clean up.. since also, he is a counselor
